Anti-Hazing Policy
Definition
Hazing is any action taken or situation created, intentionally or unintentionally, whether on or off sorority premises, that causes embarrassment, harassment, ridicule, emotional or physical harm, or endangers the mental or physical health or safety of an individual—regardless of a person’s willingness to participate. Hazing includes, but is not limited to, forced activities, physical or psychological shocks, exposure to extreme weather or substances, threats, verbal abuse, or any behavior that demeans, degrades, or endangers a prospective or current member.
Hazing is strictly prohibited and is not aligned with the values of Alpha Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. We are committed to fostering an environment of dignity, respect, and sisterhood.

We promise to cultivate a safe, welcoming, and empowering environment for every woman who chooses to walk in sisterhood with us. Hazing, in any form, is strictly prohibited and goes against the very core of our values.
We promise to honor the dignity and worth of all members—new and seasoned—through education, mentorship, and leadership that uplifts rather than intimidates.
We promise to hold ourselves accountable and ensure that all initiation and membership processes reflect the love, strength, and excellence Alpha Theta Nu was founded upon.
Hazing has no home here.

Anti-Hazing Policy Violations
Alpha Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. maintains a zero-tolerance policy for any form of hazing. All members, affiliates, and potential members are expected to uphold the organization’s values and comply with national, state, and local laws regarding hazing.
Violations Include (but are not limited to):
- Physical harm or forced physical activity
- Forced consumption of alcohol, drugs, or any substance
- Sleep deprivation or excessive fatigue
- Verbal abuse, intimidation, or public humiliation
- Coercion or pressure to engage in unlawful or degrading acts
- Withholding communication or isolating new members
- Any activity that endangers the safety or well-being of another
Consequences of Policy Violations:
- Immediate suspension or expulsion of members involved
- Revocation of chapter privileges or charter
- Reporting to local law enforcement, if applicable
- Legal action and civil penalties
- Permanent record with the National Board of Alpha Theta Nu Sorority, Inc.
